Linda Harrington

I am excited to begin my first full year as Assistant Principal at Evergreen! My experience in education in Hillsboro began in the early '80s as a science and health teacher at J.B. Thomas. In 1993 I moved to Glencoe, teaching biology and anatomy and physiology in Glencoe's Health Services Program. The last few years my role has been TOSA, (Teacher on Special Assignment) at both district and building levels. I have extensive experience in gifted education and effective classroom instruction. My husband Jim taught at several Hillsboro schools, including Evergreen and Glencoe, and is Chief Information Officer for Hillsboro Schools. Our sons are graduates of Hillsboro Schools; Erik—Mooberry, Evergreen and Glencoe Class of '03 and Sean—Mooberry, Evergreen and Glencoe Class of '07. I look forward to working with Evergreen students, staff and families!

Evergreen's Special Education Programs

SLC (Social Learning Center)

Evergreen's social learning center (The Endeavor Program) is designed for students with autism or significant sensory, social, and behavioral needs. Here, students can develop new interests, end negative cycles, and organize academics to a new priority. The Endeavor program focuses on student success in the mainstream population with support for transitions, scheduling, and organization. Direct instruction for social and emotional skills, positive behavioral interventions, and goal setting are an integral part of the Endeavor program. Students are recommend for this program throughout the district based on individual needs and IEP team decisions.

Learning Resource Center (LRC)

Evergreen's Learning Resource Center is designed to provide specialized academic instruction in reading, writing, and math to students who may struggle in these areas. This program traditionally services students who are able to attend mainstream education classes and who can be successful with grade level expectations. The LRC is a support system to assist students with an identified learning disability which can possibly limit the students success while enrolled in the mainstream curriculum.

Life Skills

Evergreen's Life Skills classroom supports students working toward independence and skills needed to be successful in their daily lives. Students learn to be independent with skills such as academics, hygiene and grooming, employment or job skills, community skills and much more. This is also a program that serves students with more severe disabilities that may need nursing care.
